Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
